About EuroFEL
EuroFEL is part of the ESFRI Roadmap since 2006. The preparatory phase of EuroFEL
(IRUVX-PP) prepared the establishment of the EuroFEL Consortium to link FEL &
SPS facilities in Europe closer together. IRUVX-PP has been funded by the European
Commission under FP7 from April 2008 to March 2011.
The main objective of this work package is to identify critical technical issues that are of importance for the EuroFEL Consortium, provide a platform for the transfer of knowledge and organise long-term collaborations between the EuroFEL partners. For most technical issues there is currently significant overlap in the requirements and designs so that coordination of activities will lead to substantial savings in resources and production times and enable full scientific exploitation from the start. The main tools to meet these objectives are the identification and formation of working groups, implementation of concepts and communication tools for effective knowledge exchange and assistance in legal questions through WP1. In particular, this includes organization of workshops and meetings, exchange of guest scientists (from inside and outside the consortium), and, if applicable, preparation of usage rights for infrastructure or technical drawings, production of technical drawings or loan/sharing of hardware for measurements within the EuroFEL Consortium.
