April 10-13, 2012 503rd Heraeus Seminar on "Free-Electron Lasers: from Fundamentals to Applications"
Physikzentrum Bad Honnef, Germany
In the seminar many of the leading international scientists working at FELs will present their field of research in dedicated lectures. At the same time some of the pioneers driving the technical realisation of the currently running FEL user facilities are presenting the basic concepts of free electron lasers and review the current state of FEL technology.
Furthermore, two poster sessions will allow young scientists to present and discuss their work with each other and with the attending experts. The seminar is particularly suited for students and postdocs.
The deadline for registration and abstract submission is January 31, 2012. Please refer to the conference website for registration and further information:

April 23 and 24, 2012 CRISP 1st Annual Meeting
FORTH, Heraklion, Crete
The Cluster of Research Infrastructures for Synergies in Physics (CRISP) project aims to build collaborations between the eleven Research Infrastructures (RIs) participating in the project. It focuses on four R&D tasks that are of utmost importance for these RIs: Accelerators, Instruments & Experiments, Detectors & Data Acquisition, and Information Technology (IT) & Data Management.
After the CRISP Kick-off Meeting has successfully taken place in Paris in October 2011, the 1st Annual Meeting will be held in Heraklion, Crete.

15-18 July 2012 Science at FELs. SRI 2012 Satellite Meeting
DESY Hamburg, Germany
The Science at FELs Satellite Meeting to the 11th International Conference on Synchrotron Radiation Instrumentation in Lyon, France will present science highlights achieved in the first seven years of operation of short-wavelength free-electron lasers (FELs). Applications from quantum optics to life sciences and systems from atoms to complex solids will be featured. A focus will also be placed on new directions in science at FELs and challenges to scientific instrumentation.
Hamburg is directly connected to Lyon via airplane in less than two hours. Visits of the FLASH FEL facility at DESY and the European XFEL construction site will be included in the meeting programme.
Deadline for abstract submission: February 06, 2012
Deadline for registration: April 30, 2012
